Your website is up and running. It looks sharp, it has consistent messaging throughout and is searchable and waiting to be discovered on search engines. Now what?
There are a couple of codes that you should add to the back-end of your website. Codes and back-end can both be scary terms, but once you get past the fear, you're ahead of the curve (I promise!)
1. Analytics Tracking (Google) — Is an important snippet of code that helps track how many users go to your website, how they got to your website (search engine, social media, direct) and how long they stayed on a page/s.
With this information, you can adjust pages accordingly to benefit your business. See what is working for you and what is not in regards to your marketing strategy. Marketing strategy!? (We'll come back to that).
It's simple. Sign in to Google Analytics, create a property, copy the snippet of code provided and insert it into the back-end header of your website. Want more in-depth instructions? Check out Google's step-by-step guide here.
2. Facebook Pixel — This will help you if you decide to dabble in Facebook advertising in the future. This snippet of code will help you understand the effectiveness of your advertising by understanding the actions people take on your website.
The analytics gathered from the Facebook Pixel (assuming you begin Facebook advertising) will help you advertise "smarter" and retarget beneficial groups.
It's easy as well! Sign in to Facebook Ads Manager, click on "Settings" (the hamburger menu) in the top left-hand corner, choose "Pixels" under "Events Manager" and select "Create a Facebook Pixel". Facebook will then provide you with three options: Use an integration or tag manager, manually install the code yourself or email the instructions to a developer. I would select "manually install the code yourself", copy the code provided, and insert it in the header on the back-end of your website. Facebook has a great feature, where you can test the traffic to your pixel afterwards, to ensure the snippet of code has been successfully installed.
Now that you have these two snippets of code added to the back-end of your website, we can begin a marketing strategy. Stay tuned for next post, folks!
