Level up your Saskatchewan Business’s Social Media Game with Emojis

Content is being uploaded to social media platforms at all-time highs and businesses are struggling to get noticed, let alone gaining meaningful engagement on the content that they are sharing. It’s time to level up your Saskatchewan business’s social media game with emojis and start getting recognized!

Did you know that the use of emojis increases engagement by a whopping 48% on Instagram?

So, how do you implement this new digital marketing strategy to level up your Saskatchewan business’s social media game using emojis?

First and foremost, you need to ask yourself if the use of emojis aligns with the identity of your brand. If the answer is yes, or maybe, please proceed!

  1. Familiarize yourself with the emojis and select a few that would complement the majority of your Saskatchewan business’s social media posts. Note: New emojis are added with the occasional phone update. Being aware of these new emoji additions can be a great asset to your “go-to” emoji toolkit.

  2. Make sure that the emojis you’ve selected for your business are appropriate! Some have unintended meanings (ahem, a few of the food items) that I would recommend you leave out of your social media strategy.

  3. Do not overuse emojis in your social media posts. Personally, I like to use one or two emojis for each paragraph in my social media posts.

  4. Use emojis that work with the content you are sharing. When reviewing your business’s upcoming social media post, perhaps the emojis in your “go-to” selection won’t work and that is OK. Browse Emojipedia and find ones that do. Don’t try to make something work that doesn’t.

Now that we have that covered, I’ll let you in on some secrets that I live by—AND—why I LOVE using emojis in social posts for the business accounts that I manage.

  1. Sometimes if there is an emoji that I want to use, I work the copy of the social media post around the emoji.

  2. I enjoy using emojis that get the point across but add a touch of curiosity. For example, a real estate agent’s post about buying a home—The key emoji and house emoji would be dead giveaways. BUT, what about a shopping cart and shopping bags? That still brings the message home, but in a roundabout way. I believe an approach such as this, makes the consumer stop and digest the content more than if the typical emojis were present.

  3. Being up to date with the latest emojis will save you time in the long run. Instead of browsing through all of the emojis every time you make a post. I recommend spending an hour or so remembering them now, that way, you have them in your arsenal of tools down the road.

  4. If you’re questioning your emoji, don’t use it. Chances are, another reader will be too.

  5. My FAVS for my personal brand: 💁‍♀️🙆‍♀️ 👯‍♀️🙌🦄🔥🤸‍♀️
